Old World joinery unites with modern day technology
for extraordinary results.
At the root of TYME Furniture Studio’s master craftsmanship
is a thorough understanding of wood and its interaction with the
environment. Knowledge of the way wood expands and contracts, together
with superior joinery techniques, is fundamental to designing a piece
of furniture or interior that will withstand the test of time.
All of our projects are handcrafted from solid wood materials and
real wood veneer. Our high-quality techniques and materials make
our furniture not only beautiful but stable – adhering to strict
standards of quality and durability.
We believe details make all the difference – and we pride ourselves
on noticing details others might miss, to ensure the integrity of
the piece as a whole. Our approach results in unparalleled precision:
handmade signature pieces that look like they are not handmade.
Once a project is completed to our exacting specifications, smaller
pieces are packaged and shipped directly from our location. Larger
projects are delivered and installed onsite by the artisans themselves.
About Veneer Work
It may come as a surprise to discover that the highest end furniture
is usually veneered. Especially when implementing newer approaches
to furniture construction, using veneers has surpassed traditional
hardwood in many respects:
Veneer construction is more stable. Because
of the relative instability of solid hardwood when faced with
the expansion/contraction due to environmental conditions, real
wood veneer adhered to high-quality engineered hardboard is generally
more durable and stable.
Veneers are "green." Veneer logs are sliced
into 1/64th inch pieces yielding many more faces than sawing
into hardwood lumber. The slicing process produces no sawdust
resulting in complete use of the log. This is the most conservative
use of our valuable timber resources. The base materials to which
veneers are adhered are made of recycled materials: MDF (wood
slurry pressed together) or particle board (wood chips pressed
together).
Veneers can be exotic. Using veneers opens
up decorative wood options to include countless exotic varieties
from around the world which can be matched to create stunning
furniture pieces.
In addition to using veneer work on our own projects, other wood
professionals can source their veneer work to TYME Furniture Studio.
We have completed several projects of this type including cabinet
doors and furniture pieces for other professionals. Professionals
